Great article however, I don't entirely agree with the final point. In my experience to date, clients like being asked "what they would like to work on" in their session. Of course, this doesn't mean we spend the entire session doing everything they WANT to do, as the instructor we know what they NEED to do, however, it starts the conversation about their body and, for me, begins the creative and analytical process for planning a customised workout.

hi guys,

you are certainly right with the interest generated by allied health professionals and health clubs, they do make up the vast majority of product and education enquiries that come across my desk here at Leisure Concepts. It really is a testament to the Pilates Professionals out there who have invested years refining, and developing Pilates. Your commitment has created significant clinic investigation which has verified your beliefs and has now caused Pilates to be recognised and accepted as a brilliant, way to train and to rehabilitate.

As for service & customer experience, regardless of the degree of commercialisation; it boils down to the core values and culture of the company that you are dealing with. At Leisure Concepts we seek to create an ideal solution for our customers in a warm and consultative way. After all, we are all involved in buying big-ticket items at some point in our life and always appreciate it when we are looked after. We are always committed to getting better and to learning and we definitely look forward to building great working relationships with the wider Pilates community...

Thanks for highlighting this result, as I think it's important Pilates instructors understand the relationship between isolated TA use and the SIJ. While some literature disparages the isolated muscle activation training of TA (Lederman, 2010), keep in mind it's part of a team of musculature that must be re-activated after episodes of LBP (Grenier and McGill, 2007; Kiesel, et al., 2007). Also key, though, is a discussion of Lumbar Multifidi which have been shown to be related to prognostic factors of success with stabilization programs (Hebert, et al., 2010). Pilates can play an instrumental role in helping research redefine a new standard for what healthy movement looks like. Not enough of these studies incorporate subjects who can actually even perform an Abdominal Drawing In Maneuver (ADIM) properly! Really.
