Ball props on the reformer – help or hinder?

Browsing through this site I found an article, “Ball props on the reformer: A help or hinder’ by Madeleine Black. This nicely revisits the work she shared at the APMA Sydney retreat in February 2010.

” the use of the ball inhibits functional synergistic muscle work of the feet up to the spine. We are looking at optimal leg alignment while executing Pilates in a dynamic and functional way, not in a held position.”

A final post for 2010

Here I am in NYC, enjoying a mighty cold (hopefully white) Christmas with my family after one heck of a year. This year has certainly challenged my resolve and sense of who I am, throwing me circumstances I never dreamed I would have to deal with. Overall, I have come out of the other end of breast cancer treatment with a greater resolve to be present, lead a simple life and give my energy to what matters.

I wish you all the very best for the coming year and hope you can see out 2010 with an appreciation for the beauty of life and the company of those you love.

Here is my small present to you, a new website called Pilates Anytime A free 15 day trial on offer, not sure who it is aimed at, just read about it today and wanted to share. Merry Christmas.

PS Please fill out our inaugural Australian Pilates industry survey posted a little while ago. Easy to do over the spare holiday time we are enjoying.

A few thoughts from moi

Firstly, none of you made any noise about the recent ‘fitness pilates certification’ post and the implications for us. Does it not ruffle your feathers just a little?!?!? On a happier note, you remember the post last January, sneakily added by my hubby while I was flat out recovering from a double mastectomy. Continue reading…
