A final post for 2010

Here I am in NYC, enjoying a mighty cold (hopefully white) Christmas with my family after one heck of a year. This year has certainly challenged my resolve and sense of who I am, throwing me circumstances I never dreamed I would have to deal with. Overall, I have come out of the other end of breast cancer treatment with a greater resolve to be present, lead a simple life and give my energy to what matters.

I wish you all the very best for the coming year and hope you can see out 2010 with an appreciation for the beauty of life and the company of those you love.

Here is my small present to you, a new website called Pilates Anytime A free 15 day trial on offer, not sure who it is aimed at, just read about it today and wanted to share. Merry Christmas.

PS Please fill out our inaugural Australian Pilates industry survey posted a little while ago. Easy to do over the spare holiday time we are enjoying.

Please help with our Australian Pilates industry research study

instructors back arch

Do you know what you should be earning in the Australian Pilates industry? Here’s your chance to help us all find out that and other questions.

Our sister site, Pilates directory PilatesSource.com.au has announced our first industry-wide research study into the Australian Pilates industry, and is seeking your help.

The aim in starting PilatesSource was to provide a single online destination for all Pilates-related professionals in Australia, irrespective of teaching method, professional affiliation, etc. We’re passionate about helping the Australian Pilates industry grow. We now want to ask for your help to answer some big, important questions we’d all like answers for, like:

  • How much should I be charging?
  • Are my operating costs higher or lower than industry average?
  • Am I paying my staff more or less than other employers?
  • Am I earning more or less than other Pilates professionals?
  • Is the industry growing or shrinking? How fast?
  • What are the big issues that should concern us?

We intend for the information collected by the survey to benefit all Pilates practitioners, business owners and professional associations in Australia. The important conclusions from this landmark study will be made available to all survey respondents (i.e. you), professional associations, and will be published in Pilates Scene, in early 2011.

If we get a good response from you and other Pilates professionals we hope to repeat the same study each year, perhaps even every six months, and that’s when the interesting trends will emerge. But nothing happens without Australian Pilates professionals like you completing the survey!

We’ve tested the online survey and this should take no more than five minutes to complete.

All the answers you give and your personal information will remain entirely confidential — only the aggregate information from the survey will be released.

If I owned a studio I would offer this….

I used to, I may never again, but if I did, these classes would be on the playlist. So much more fun than a mat class, stackable equipment with huge diversity.
