Myofascial release can be done by yourself, in the privacy of your own home with toys you have already purchased, foam roller, Franklin balls etc. A free download on just how to do it available here from Mike Robertson, Masters degree in Sports Biomechanics.
Mikes’ words,
“Myofascial release is the art of manipulating fascia to decrease pain, increase range of motion, and provide better overall function and balance in the body. In other words, your muscles and the connections within them get all jumbled up and knotted. Scar tissue builds, shortening occurs, injury takes place, and basically what was once moving correctly and with ease is now stunted. Myofasical release is supposed to get in there and “break things up”, “stretch” them out, and leave you performing better, and in less pain than before.”
Mikes’ site, Robertsons Training System is full of training/ muscle man stuff that doesn’t interest me, but in terms of corrective exercise he has some useful things too, have a look around.
