A very good article. I have alot of low and middle back pain due to years of playing sports and walking is the best thing for my pain and stiffness. A 40 minute walk 4 times a weel really has a better effect than any other exercise I've performed. Sitting kills my back more than anything else! We're not made to sit and computer jobs are just destroying peoples backs. Stress also is a factor in back pain.

These are very interesting observations and comments. Thanks very much. I like linking to articles like these.

I would invite you to check out the PostureJac at http://posturejac.com. The vision of the creator, Dr. Howard Makofsky, Professor of Physical Therapy, was for a device that would teach the body how to align itself by a lifting action. It creates a kinaesthetic awareness of what good alignment feels like, and a mechanism to restore posture that involves mobility to stretch and strengthen vital muscle groups.

Take a look at the spinal lift by depressing the shoulder blades that Dr. Makofsky calls the spinal corkscrew mechanism. It may be the way to affect long term postural change.
