I have a number of clients that find 4point kneeling or pressing the Wundachair pedal down problematic. It seems to be a combination of weak wrists and discomfort in the pads of the hand with the sustained pressure. This work is so good for shoulder strength and the proprioception of shoulder work I don’t really want to exclude it all because of their wrist discomfort. So inspired by a client who suffers this affliction, I got to looking for gloves. Continue reading…

A few details about Ron Fletcher workshops and sessions have come through with most sessions to be held at The Pilates Body, in Sandringham, Victoria. I tried a Fletcher Towelwork® class with James McKoy in 2007 and it felt magic. More details to follow as they hit my inbox. Continue reading…
I have often looked at the Events Calendar here at Pilates Scene on my standard browser Safari, and discovered there has been a lot of missing information. Every month has a number of entries and the calendar is looking really full of interesting professional development choices for us, across the country. So you should see that too.
Then I tried using my other browser, Firefox (I am a Mac girl) and everything was there to be seen. SO the moral of the story is try another browser if you are finding gaps in the information you are looking at. The Events Calendar is created and maintained online so sometimes there are connectivity issues between different programs. For those of you using Interenet Explorer, I sugggest you go Mac too! Debate is raging over at yespilates.com about the issue of ‘Pilates Day’ celebrations for 2009. As of today there are 27 comments. It goes a little like this…

An interactive space planner tool is available to play with at the Balanced Body website. Different room scenarios are offered, or you can create your own and you can then move equipment/furnishings around. It requires Adobe Flash Player on your computer but this can be downloaded from the site itself. Measurements are in feet, but have your converter at hand to assist.
This is a very clever addition to your web presence and can be a real plus for tech savvy or computer based clients that think about booking an appointment at those odd times of day that you can’t be answering the phone. I think for many many of us we jump online first to find information or make contact with others, so do your best to keep up and consider offering your clients the flexibility of this approach. I am so happy to see that you are looking at the site, the stats show me how many page views are coming in each day, but you are all so quiet! I know you care about Pilates, it’s not something we do without a sense of care and passion for our clients, and the method we teach.
Let’s make Pilates Scene a place we can share information, talk to each other and help bring the rather disparate Pilates community together. Continue reading…
“Marika Molnar (Physio) determined that we needed an exercise to connect the right and left sides of the brain and soon we had a new Fundamental which we call the Brain Connector Fundamental. It uses specific eye movements to increase connection. Continue reading…
