Is it enough for you that they just keep coming back and continue to pay for your time? If you want to make them feel special and say good things about you, maybe it ain’t.

We are consumers too, so put yourself in our clients’ shoes and think this one through. Last time you went for a haircut, massage or to the dentist consider,

What did you like about that service experience or what was lousy about that service experience?

Was there any point where you felt they ‘cared’ about the interaction with you and did you walk away with a positive feeling about the place?

It can be as simple as this, treat others as you would appreciate being treated yourself if you were having a session.

  • make eye contact with them when you greet them.
  • respect the kind of environment that clients want in their session, chatty and full of life, or still and focussed.
  • refer back to something you talked about last time, they will be impressed you even remembered.
  • give them a free session when they make a referral to you that sticks.
  • after 50 or 100 sessions reward them for staying with you with a logo t-shirt or other garment that promotes your brand.
  • offer to order in small equipment they are interested in and don’t let them struggle alone with the purchase.
  • get to know your local massage therapists, your clients will always ask you about them.
  • only promote an email address on your site if you attend to it regularly, once a week is not enough. Drives me nuts!
